Thomas Krout

Thomas "Tom" Edward Krout, the son of Clarence "Bud" and Bessie North Krout, was born November 21, 1949, in Storm Lake, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Marathon, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Marathon High School in 1968. Following high school he continued to live in Marathon and worked at HyGrade in Storm Lake for 13 years. Tom married Cherilyn Renee Rasch on October 20, 1984, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa. Following their marriage, they remained in Marathon for five years until moving to Spencer in 1990, where he worked for Dick Hallett Construction. He later worked in the maintenance department at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer until his health forced him to retire. Tom enjoyed many activities in his spare time including watching Iowa Hawkeye sports, spending time with his children, cooking, gardening, spending time in the outdoors, camping, fishing and parking cars during the Clay County Fair. Tom passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota on Monday, April 16, 2007, at the age of 57. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cheri of Spencer; his children: Tyler and Leslie, both at home; one brother, Dick and his wife, Judy Krout of Storm Lake, and their children: Jim Krout of Spencer and Terry (Mark) Rebhuhn of Marathon; two sisters: Betty and her husband, Richard Kuhn of Denison and their children: Chad Berg and Jody (Kyle) Rupp; Mary Peterson and her friend, Larry Struve and children: Sherri (Dick) Hallett, Lori (Lance) Lundbeck and Jerry (Georganne) Peterson; his mother and father-in-law, Charlie and JoAnn Rasch; his grandmother-in-law, Hertha Griffel; his brother's and sister's in law: Deb & Kaj Overgaard and their children: Christian, Nels, Karina and Marianna, Karla and Gary Pickhinke and their children: Michelle and Michael McKenna, Andy and Kelsey Pickhinke and Corey and Amy Rasch and their children: Karissa, Caleb and Colin; other relatives and many friends.
