Thomas Ray Amis, the son of Ralph and Charlotte (Barglof) Amis was born November 21, 1940 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent on the farm, south of Royal, IA. He attended school in Peterson, IA, graduating from Peterson High School in 1958. He then went to a trade school in Kansas City.
Thomas enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1977 He married Shirley Dandy on January 4, 1992 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He worked at Tecton for 20 years until his retirement. Thomas enjoyed fishing, horse racing, his dog Oliver, and especially spending time with his wife and family.
Thomas passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee, IA at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, step-son, Mick Beck, one brother, Ronald Amis; 2 sisters, Carol and Dee; and 3 dogs, Shep, Suzie, and Sam
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Terry (Jackie) Beck of Spencer, IA; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; Other relatives and many friends.
