Thomas Edmund Johnstone, the son of Robert and Shirley (Jensen) Johnstone, was born August 13, 1961, in Detroit Lakes, MN. The family moved to Spencer, IA in 1968 where he attended the Spencer School System for a time and worked at the Sunshine Center until 1981. Tom then moved to Sheldon, IA and became part of the family of God's special people at Village Northwest Unlimited.
Tom had a full and productive life and career working at the Village workshop for over 30 years. He served on the Park and Trail Board for the City of Sheldon. He volunteered and helped with the Parade of Flags for all patriotic holidays.
His hobbies included bowling, fishing (he always caught the biggest fish) and always enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed coming home to Spencer for a weekend to enjoy a 'Bud' with the 'prairie doggers' at Sneakers.
