Thurma E. Farris

Thurma Esther Farris, the daughter of Ben and Anna Jochims Decker, was born December 18, 1918 in Pocahontas County, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Linn Grove, where she received her education. Thurma married Leon Larson in 1936. Following their marriage, they lived in Linn Grove. Leon passed away in 1947. Thurma married Harvey Farris in 1948 and they lived in Spencer, Iowa, where she continued to live for the rest of her life. She attended the Living Word Church and the Victory Baptist Church in Spencer. Mrs. Farris passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; three brothers: Bernard, George and Herman; one sister, Wanda Boothby and one son, Jerry Larson. She is survived by two sons and their wives: James and Alice Larson of Spencer and Randy and Jeanne Larson of Waco, TX; one daughter and her husband, Connie and Jim Dean of Spencer; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Janice Larson of Spencer; three sisters: Kay and her husband, Herschel Morris of Linn Grove, IA, Dorothy Camp of Linn Grove, IA and Betty Nelson of Ida Grove, IA; other relatives and friends.
