Thomas James Joynt was born on August 9, 1951, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was the first son of Hugh and Ellen Joynt. He attended Emmetsburg Catholic School until it closed in 1968 and graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1969. He was married to Sue Anderson in 1972. They had one son, Blair. They were later divorced. He and his long-time partner, Pam Nissen, had two children, Ashley and Landon. He recently found out he was the father of another son, Tim.
Tom loved the outdoors! He was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, farming, or gardening. He loved to share the produce of his gardens. He loved participating in the chuck wagon races. Heights did not bother him. When he was young, if there was a tree around, he would climb it!! He worked several jobs including: volunteer fireman, truck driver, running a bar, a hardware store, excavation work, turbine repair, and worked multiple jobs with the Koenig family. He enjoyed working on “wheat runs” in Kansas. If something broke, he would tinker with it until he got it to work! Tom treasured his many hunting trips with friends. His sense of humor will long be remembered. He loved his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy!
Tom will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Pam Nissen of Spencer. Four children, Tim; Blair and his daughters, Jenna and Jada of Malvern, AR; Ashley (Jon) Hockett and their children, Clara and Parker, of Greenville, IA; Landon (Kalei) and their son, Canton of Spencer, IA.
