Tracy Scott Carter, aged 62, of Spencer, Iowa was born on March 15, 1962, to Charles and Marlys Carter of Spencer, Iowa. The oldest of four siblings, he graduated from Spencer High School in 1980. Afterwards, he joined the workforce where he met his wife, Kimberly Jo Roland, while they both worked at the local Hardee’s.
Tracy and Kim were united in marriage on April 25, 1981 in Spencer, Iowa. Following their wedding, Tracy and Kim remained in Spencer, Iowa and welcomed four children. Tracy had a love for the outdoors. He could be found hunting, fishing, or camping. He spent many seasons in the woods and on the lakes, a testament to his skills and respect for nature.
Throughout Tracy’s work career, he found himself doing a variety of jobs including trucking/loading, working on a chicken farm, and construction before finding his passion as a UPS delivery driver. Tracy quickly became a well-known favorite on his route, as he developed caring relationships with his customers. Tracy left a lasting impression. His work was a significant part of his life, providing not just for his family, but also reliably serving the community.
Tracy dedicated his life to Jesus at the Little Red Brick Church, Assembly of God, in Spencer, Iowa. From there, he became a committed member of the Foundation Church, where he found a community of faith and fellowship that enriched his life, and the lives of those around him.
One of Tracy’s favorite titles was Grandpa. He could often be found on the lake fishing, at a target range, or in the backyard working on a project with the grandkids.
Tracy went home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Marlys Carter and an infant sister, Dorothy Thelma Carter.
Tracy is survived by his wife, Kimberly Carter of Spencer, Iowa; children, Jeremy (Kaitlin) Carter of Mankato, Minnesota, Kristy (Cavon) Riley of Webb, Iowa, Brittany (Kevin) Grimes of Los Angeles, California, and Christopher Carter of Lemars, Iowa. Grandchildren included Elise, Pierce, Bergen, and Forest Carter of Mankato, Minnesota; Keagen, Khloe, Benton, and baby Riley of Webb, Iowa. Tracy’s two surviving sisters are Crystal (Tim) Hanson of Guthrie, Iowa and Denyse (Richard) Tygret of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Tracy is also survived by several other family members, as well as many close friends.
Heaven gained one of the good ones.
