Valeta 'Vee' June Kephart, 70, was born April 17, 1945 in George to Virgil and Verna Horn. She obtained her education in the George school system. Vee married Thomas Kephart in 1964 and moved to Greenville. In 1978 she took up residence in Spencer. The couple had two daughters and later divorced.
Vee enjoyed traveling with her family, crocheting and creating crafts (especially holiday decorations) and exploring her green thumb. She was famous for healing friends and families' plants as well as growing her own. Her garden was the gem of the neighborhood.
Vee loved music and attended live musical performances with her friends continually. She was generous with donating her time and talents by helping at musical events. Vee was awarded the Iowa RockNRoll Music Association Volunteer of the Year trophy in 2014.
Vee peacefully passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Oct. 19 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Survivors include: daughters Valerie Schilling and husband Phil of Spencer, and Terri Gates of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son-in-law Todd; grandchildren Tabatha and Blade, great-grandson Maddox; special friends Steve Daly, Dianna Haburn, Patrick Farho and daughters Dacia and Corrina; many friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Duane.
