Velma Evelyn Van Norman

       Velma Evelyn Johnson Riebe Van Norman was born to Earl and Elsie (Giberson) Johnson on October 24, 1929.  The youngest of 5 children with 4 older brothers, Glenn, Clyde, Lyndal & Cleo.  She and Cleo attended school in Montrose, SD. Evie went to secretarial school and moved to St. Paul, MN.  She eventually worked at 3M in the Abrasives Dept.

      On September 13, 1952 she married Carl Riebe. Their home was blessed by 3 children.  Carl passed away in May of 1972.

      After Evie retired from 3M she found her winter home in Alamo Tx.  After several years of spending the winter in Alamo and the summers in St. Paul, Alamo became her full-time home.

      She married Jack Van Norman on April 22, 2011.  They spent her last 9 years enjoying each other’s companionship.

      She is survived by her husband, Jack Van Norman; her daughter Joyce Riebe; her daughter-in-law, Annette Riebe; 3 granddaughters, Brandy Riebe, Veronica Jennie, Shawna Edwards; along with 5 great grandchildren.  Her son, Donald Riebe, preceded her in death, July 2019.

      Evelyn passed away peacefully at home on June 10, 2020, surrounded by family.
