Velma was born on November 3, 1922 in Douglas Township in Clay County to Waldo and Olga Walstrom Lundt. Velma grew up on the family farm and graduated from Linn Grove High School. After attending Morningside College she was employed as a secretary at an Air Base in Ogden, UT.
Velma married Dale Berge in October of 1946 and they lived on a farm east of Webb, IA for several years. In 1949 they moved to a farm north of Linn Grove, IA and in June of 1951 Velma and Dale were blessed with a daughter, Ann. While living on several farms in that area for 25 years, Velma was also a secretary at the family grain elevator in Greenville, IA for 19 years.
Velma married William Schomburg in April of 1975 and after moving from Spencer, IA, they made their home in West Okoboji Harbor. She lived there for over 33 years and was then with her brother in Sioux Rapids for several years. After those years she was with her daughter and granddaughter in the Omaha, NE area. Velma entered Hill Top Mable Rose Care Center in Bellevue, NE in April 2014. She was a loving mother and grandmother, great cook, and always would give all of herself for her family.
Left to cherish Velma's memory are her daughter, Ann Aldrich of Glenwood, IA; granddaughter, Allison (Marvin) Aldabute of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Andrew, and Amelia; brother, Ralph Lundt of Sioux Rapids, IA 3 nephews, Max, John, and Jay Lundt; 2 nieces, Judy Hoogeveen and Joan Holles; cousins; and friends.
Preceding Velma in death were her parents; both husbands; son-in-law David Aldrich; brother, Wilmer Lundt; sister-in-law, Joyce Lundt; and niece, Jane Lundt.
SERVICES
Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
