Velma Vesta Wiese

   Velma Vesta Wiese, the daughter of Rudolph and Lillie (Ott) Peters, was born September 17, 1915, near Everly, Iowa.  Her childhood years were spent in the Everly area where she attended a rural school and graduated from Everly High School.  Following graduation, she pursued a career in nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

   On September 26, 1936, Velma was united in marriage to Eldon Wiese in Hobert, Indiana.  Following their marriage, they lived in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, and Berkley, California, before moving to Everly, Iowa, in 1938, where they farmed for many years.  They moved to Spencer in 1972.  Velma worked as a Register Nurse at the Spencer Hospital for 20 years and retired in 1980.  She enjoyed counter cross stitch, reading, and playing cards.  She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, Iowa.

   Velma passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, on Monday, July 16, 2018, at the age of 102.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband on January 19, 1978.

   Left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert Wiese and wife, Jan of Blairsburg, IA; and daughter, Judy Trevithick and husband, Ken of Scottsbluff, NE; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES
Funeral Services will take place 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, July 18, at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
