Venetia Moira 'Cricket' Blakely, the daughter of Frederick and Zoe (Packard) Cochrane, was born October 20, 1928 in Creston, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent there where she received her education, graduating from Creston High School.
Cricket married James Blakely and to this union three daughters were born: Barbara, Nancy and Andrea. The early years of her marriage were spent in Creston and they lived in numerous communities in Iowa where she raised her family, before moving to Spencer, Iowa in 1989. While in Spencer, she worked briefly at White Drug and J.C. Penney's until her retirement. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. Cricket also was a member of the YMCA, where she enjoyed aquasize, Golden K Kiwanis, Arts on Grand, the Care Review Committee, DARE Program and was a mentor for the Spencer Schools reading program.
Cricket passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barb Creswell; a brother, Bill Cochrane and a sister, Jeanne Balius.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters: Nancy Blakely of Mesa, AZ and Andrea 'Anji'Franseen and her husband, Brian of Spencer; four grandchildren; step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; two sisters: Patricia Jones of Ankeny, IA and Helen Pelmulder of Marion, IA; one brother, Ben Cochrane of Phoenix, AZ; other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 20, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
