Vera May Ebel

October 25, 1921 — May 1, 2008

Vera May Ebel, the daughter of Chris and Hannah (Swanson) Dormann, was born on October 25, 1921, in Melvin, Iowa. She was raised in Melvin where she received her early education and graduated from Melvin High School in 1939. On March 29, 1947, Vera married Howard Christian Ebel in Melvin, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the communities of May City, Paullina and eventually settling in Spencer in 1970. Vera began working at the hospital in housekeeping and retired in 1995. She was a member and enjoyed attending Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in the Ruth Circle. Vera passed away at the Mercy Health Center in Ft. Scott, KS, on May 1, 2008, at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1981; her daughter, Elaine Hansen; and three sisters: Anna Kearney, Helen Dormann and Ruth Mielke. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice Boge and her husband, William of Fort Scott, KS; her son, Dennis of Spencer, IA; five grandchildren: Jim Hansen, Curt Hansen, Sharlene Dandy and her husband Tron, Mike Boge and Mikayla Boge; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Ebel; other relatives and friends.

SERVICES

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

VISITATION

Visitation will begin after 12:00 P.M., Tuesday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
