Vera Violet Hanrahan, 92, of Hartley, Iowa, formerly of West Burlington, died Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Hartley Community Care Center in Hartley.
Born March 12, 1916, in Sanborn, Iowa, she was the daughter of George Leemkuil and Ida Bertha Storm. On February 28, 1948 she married Edmund Paul Hanrahan in Rock Island, Il. He died on October 20, 1977.
Ms. Hanrahan worked at the Rock Island Arsenal. She was a member of SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington.
Her childhood years were spent in the Sanborn/Sheldon area, where she received her education, graduating from high school. Following high school, she lived in the Quad Cities in Iowwa, where she worked at Rock Island Arsenal in Davenport, Iowa for 20 years. After moving to West Burlington, she worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, for several years. Vera enjoyed dancing and traveling.
Survivors include cousins, Glenn and his wife Rita Storm of Spencer, Iowa and Dorothy Nelson of Bedford, Texas as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
A memorial has been established for the SS Mary & Patrick Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 13, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington, Iowa

VISITATION
Friends may call at Prugh's Chapel on Tuesday from 12:00 until 5:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the service.

Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir.
