Verla Hintz, the daughter of William and LuWanda Hein Grapenthin, was born August 12, 1936 in Hartley, Iowa. Verla grew up in the communities of Hartley, May City, Sheldon and Spencer where she had received her early education.
Verla married Everett Raymond Hintz on March 31, 1956, in Sutherland, IA. Following their marriage, they moved to Everly where she worked in various restaurants for a while and stayed home to raise her children. Verla was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and spending time at their cottage at Silver Lake. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verla passed away at Longhouse Residence on July 2, 2013 at the age of 76. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and their husbands: Rita and Randal Newkirk of Everly, IA, and LuCinda and Duane Wilson of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Melissa, Rachel, Chelsey, Garrick and Sonya; four great-grandchildren: Christian, Kaylee, Bryce and Hailee; brother-in-law, George Hintz of Everly, IA; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 6 at the United Methodist Church in Everly, Ia

Visitation will begin afte 12noon on Friday, with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M., Friday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
