Vernon John Schoorman, the son of Kenneth and Helen June (Brigham) Schoorman, was born December 23, 1943 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on a farm west of Fostoria, where he received his education at Summit #2 country school through 7th grade. He continued his education at Milford High School, where he graduated from in 1962. Vernon joined the National Guard in 1964 and reached the rank of Sergeant by the time of his discharge in 1970. He also furthered his education, attending Inversal Trade School for Auto Mechanics in Omaha, NE. In 1980 he married Beverly Holtz at Hope Lutheren Church in Everly, IA.
Vernon moved to Everly, Iowa, where he worked as a mechanic and service tech from 1964 until 1983. In 1966 he married Betty Banks and from this union he had two daughters. He continued his work with Corn Belt Equipment from 1983 until just recently, when his failing health forced his retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Everly. He also enjoyed the Antique Tractor Ride, collecting toy tractors, gardening his tomatoes, NASCAR, NHRA, traveling and spending time with his family.
Vernon passed away at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roger Schoorman in 1978 and two brother-in-laws: Peter Masters and Dennis Simpson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Beverly of Everly; two daughters: Wendy (Steven) Buchli, of Morrison, CO and Heidi (Ken) Jaramillo of Wheatridge, CO; grandchildren, Alissa and Jacob, one brother, Robert Schoorman of Everly, IA; one sister, Louise Simpson of Spencer, IA; other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials given to the Abben Cancer Center in Spencer.

Memorial services will take place Saturday, April 17, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly, IA at 10:30 A.M.
