Victoria "Vicki" Ann Axtell, the daughter of Alfred John and Arlene (Thompson) Tielbur, was born December 7, 1948 in Spencer, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer where she received her education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1967. Following high school, she worked as a nurses' aide and a pharmacy technician at Spencer Municipal Hospital.
After moving to Spirit Lake in 1979, she attended the Spencer School of Business, where she earned an accounting special degree with honors as an outstanding student. She worked for several local businesses including American Family Insurance for 12 years, the Eyecare Centre for 13 years and most recently Converged Technology.
In her free time she enjoyed a wide varied of activities including sewing, gardening and home improvement projects. Every year she looked forward to attending the Clay County Fair, especially for the Tom Thumb Donuts. One year she entered many projects in the Textile, Arts and Craft division winning sixteen ribbons including five blue. Vicki took immense pride in her children and was an exceptional daughter, mother and friend.
Vicki passed away in her home in Spirit Lake, Iowa on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the age of 62 after living with and fighting COPD for over twenty-five years. Her mother preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Shanon Axtell of Germantown, MD and Holli Zimmerman and her husband, Michael of Spirit Lake, IA; son, David Axtell and his wife, Kate of Golden Valley, MN; her father, Al of Spirit Lake, IA; beloved family dogs Henry and Cosmo; and her grand-dogs Maddy and Oliver.
Memorials may also be given to Iowa Hospice.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
Following the services there will be a lunch served at La Chiesa Restuarant in Spencer.

VISITATION
A Memorial Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 - 8:00p.m., Friday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
