Virginia Conlon, the daughter of Allen and Hazel (Cole) Blessing, was born July 6, 1921 in rural Greenville, Iowa. Virginia attended school in Cornell, Iowa where she graduated in 1939. Following graduation, she worked at Carroll's Bakery, where she met her future husband.
On April 18, 1942, Virginia was married to Robert Joseph Conlon in Spencer, Iowa and to this union 2 children were born: Caroline and Linda.
Virginia worked at Sacred Heart School in the kitchen, while her daughter's attended school there. Virginia was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was very devoted to the VFW Auxiliary, DAV Auxiliary as well as the Legion Auxiliary. Virginia was very proud of her husband, Bob who was a veteran of WWII. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Virginia passed away at Longhouse Residence on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the age of 94. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert on March 19, 2002 and a daughter, Caroline; a brother, Jim and six sisters: Cleo, Donna, Dorothy, Peg, Marie and Deanna.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Linda Conlon of Spencer; her brother, Allen 'Bud' Blessing of Hampton, IA; two sisters: Margaret Doyle of Sibley, IA and Judy Blessing of Rochester, MN; many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer
A Catholic Rosary will be held at 4:00 P.M., Thursday, March 31 and A Catholic Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M., Thursday all at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
