Virginia "Ginny" Lorraine Coughenour, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Ouchstetter) Adolph, was born November 8, 1921 in Hartley, Iowa. Her childhood was spent in Hartley, where she received her education, graduating from Hartley High School in 1939. Virginia attended a business school in Minnesota for one year and then moved to Spencer, Iowa.
Ginny married Allen Coughenour on June 11, 1943 in Spencer. Following their marriage, she traveled with her husband, while he served in the military. They later returned to Spencer, where she worked at Ella-Hammer Ladies Department Store and Waddell J. Reed. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, where she served with the Catholic Daughters of America and as chairman of the funeral committee. She enjoyed tennis and golf and they were longtime members of the Spencer Golf and Country Club. Ginny and Al had moved to Maple Grove, MN in 2010 to be closer to family.
Virginia passed away at the Ambassador Good Samaritan Nursing Home in New Hope, MN on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Ronald Coughenour.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Al of Maple Grove, MN; her daughter-in-law, Barbara and her husband, Bryce Loomis of Bruce, SD; two grandchildren: Amy Coughenour of Chicago, IL and Jill Lane and her husband, Dwayne of Maple Grove, MN; 2 great grandsons, Cohen and Beckett, who meant the world to Ginny; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
