Virginia May Traughber

November 17, 1921 — March 2, 2010

Virginia May Johnson, the daughter of Clarence and Frieda Langhoff Johnson, was born November 17, 1921 in Spencer, Iowa. At an early age her parents moved to New Ulm, Minnesota where she was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on April 10, 1922. When she was in the 4th grade her parents moved to Greenville, Iowa where she finished her schooling. Virginia was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer on April 10, 1938, where she was a member the rest of her life. On January 4, 1940, she married Alvin A. Traughber at the First English Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they made their home in Spencer, Iowa where Virginia was a homemaker. Virginia passed away on March 2, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister, Dorothy Markus. She is survived by two children: Sharon Kay Traughber Torkelson and her husband, Vern of New Port Richey, FL and Larry Alvin Traughber and his wife, Betty of West Okoboji, IA; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Johnson of St. Paul, MN; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
