Virginia Ruth Lubbers

July 5, 1929 — August 6, 2012

Virginia Ruth Lubbers, the daughter of Orin and Mabel (Anderson) Groe, was born July 5, 1929 in Mason City, IA. She graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1947, attended Drake University and the University of Iowa, graduating with a BSC degree in 1952. Virginia married Paul H. Martin in Lake Mills in 1952 and they moved to Chicago, where she worked for the Exchange National Bank while he finished college. They moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa and finally to Spencer, Iowa, where they made their home. They were divorced in 1979. She married Willard C. Lubbers in Spencer, Iowa in 1981. Virginia was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer and served on various committees through the years. She was also a church organist and pianist. Virginia passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, August 6, 2012 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Deb and her husband, John Neve of Mound, MN, Jan Martin of Miami, FL and Gina and her husband, Scot Harrison of Iowa City, IA; two stepchildren: Robert Lubbers and family of Columbus, Ohio and Thea Oberlander and family of Des Moines, IA; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: Richard and Jim Groe both of St. Paul, MN; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 10, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
A time of visitation and lunch with the family present will be held immediately following the memorial services at the church.

INTERMENT
Private family inurnment will be held Friday afternoon.
