Vivian Arlene Cook, the daughter of Theodore and Clara (Lemme) Julson, was born on August 6, 1927, in Colton, SD. She attended country schools in the Colton area and then went to school in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1945. She went on to Augustana for two years and then Sioux Valley School of Nursing graduating in 1949.
On September 16, 1950, she married William Cook in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple lived in the communities of Avon, Groton, Madison and then moving to Spencer in 1957. Vivian was a nurse for 43 years, working at the Spencer Hospital, St Luke's Lutheran Home and Spencer Family Practice. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also involved in the BLCW and various circles. She was the President of the BPW form 1978-81, S.D. Nurses Assoc., Sioux Valley Nurses Alumni, Peoples Natural Gas Advisory Board, St. Luke Care Review Board and a Cub Scout Leader.
Vivian passed away on December 6, 2016, at the Three Links Nursing Home in Northfield, MN, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; three sisters: Opal Julson, Marcella Nixon and Carolyn Vail and one brother, Alton Julson.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: William of Waverly and Craig of Northfield, MN; one daughter, Cheryl Mixdorf and her husband, Mark of Dunkerton, IA; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Clayton Julson of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Darlene Wagge of San Diego, CA; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 10, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
