Vivian E. Geidl, the daughter of Lawrence and Etta Belle (Dawson) Quist, was born April 4, 1928, in Milford, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Spencer, Iowa, where she received her education at Spencer Schools.
Vivian married Milton “Burdette” Geidl on April 11, 1951. After their marriage, they lived in Spencer where she worked as a clerk for J.C. Penney for 25 years. She later worked at National Box & Display for nine years until her retirement. Vivian was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. She was also active with the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and DAV Auxiliary in Spencer. Throughout the years, she enjoyed taking care of her family and her flowers.
She passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa, on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at the age of 90. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burdette in 2017; seven brothers: Larry, Orin, Earl, Bob, Stan, Marvin and Phillip; and three sisters: Carol Marcus, Nettie Quist and Ione Larson.
Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Doreen Findling of Spencer, IA; two sons: Rick (Connie) Geidl of Spencer, IA, and Randy (Sande) Geidl of Sioux City, IA; five grandkids: Chad Geidl, Dawn Frein, Todd Findling, Stacy Lauseng and Amy Allen; 18 great-grandkids; one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
