Wanda Fernn Steward

Wanda Fernn Steward, the daughter of Warn and Susie Hayes Goodin was born June 16, 1924 near Elkader, IA in Clayton County. She graduated from Marathon High School, and then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA. Wanda married Johnnie Steward on July 17, 1943 in Elk Point, SD. She worked for Woolworths, The Beehive, J.C. Penny, Sears, and taught school. She was a member of First Christian Church in Spencer and Christian Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School, writing and reading poetry, traveling, sewing, working with flowers, doing puzzles, playing cards and spending time with family. Wanda passed away on Friday, September 13, at the Milford Nursing Center, in Milford, IA, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jonathan Steward; 3 brothers, Warren, Walter, and William Goodin; 2 sisters, Lillian Sandstrom and Maxine Blankenburg. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Johnnie of Fostoria, IA; one son, Daniel (Patti) Steward of Brighton, CO; one daughter, Kathleen Shatto (Gale Jacobson) of Fostoria, IA; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Kamoss of Pocono Mountains, PA; other relatives and many friends.
