Wanda Lee Woodall, the daughter of Andrew H. and Minnie (Bunjer) Snow was born May 6, 1928, at Lake Park, Iowa. They told her she weighed less than 4 pounds and they kept her warm in a shoe box by or on the oven door. She attended school in Lake Park, Iowa, where she graduated in 1945. In 1947, she was a two-year graduate of Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught Kindergarten in the Hartley Public School for the next seven years.
On August 19, 1953, she was married to Chris Irvin Woodall of Royal, Iowa. They were married at Benton City, Washington.
When Chris was discharged from the Army, they lived in Spencer for a few months until they moved to a farm 1mile south and 5 1/2 miles west of Royal in 1955. They later purchased the farm which is in O'Brien County. They made their home there until 1993 when they moved to 404 Long Street in Royal. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Royal where she taught Sunday School, served on the church council, Altar Guild, Circle, and study groups. Wanda was an officer of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and an active member on numerous committees. She was especially proud of her role in the Royal Centennial organization, its planning committee, and chair historian of the Royal Centennial book. Genealogy was Wanda's passion as she researched family histories on both the Snow and Woodall lines. She was the chief instigator and organizer of years of family reunions and picnics. The greatest joy of her years was her children and grandchildren. Her devotion to their special achievements and activities filled her life with countless hours of pride and JOY. Her love for her family meant more to her than any worldly possession.
Wanda passed away at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Joel and Don Snow.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Woodall of Royal; five children and their spouses: Cynthia and Lew Obright of Underwood, MN, Craig and Barb Woodall of Hartley, IA, Connie and Dan Claus of Spencer, IA, Carolyn and Tom Farmer of Clear Lake, IA and Jay and Starr Woodall of Everly, IA; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a sister, Valee Bradford of New Bern, NC; a brother, Vern Snow of Humeston, IA ; other relatives and many friends.
