Wava Mae Johnson, the daughter of Ervin and Viola Nord Johnson, was born February 13, 1921, in Linn Grove, Iowa. She received her early education and graduated from the Linn Grove High School. Wava then attended A.I.B. College in Des Moines, Iowa. After her schooling, Wava lived in Storm Lake, Iowa for 5 years and then moved to Spencer in 1944.
Wava worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Schnorr Motors for 19 years, she then worked at Gambles for 18 years and Midstates Builders for 8 years. Wava was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Charter member of the Women of the Moose Lodge, she was the only Charter member who received the degree of Senior Regent and Star Recorder and helped start AARP. Wava was a past member of the Spencer Hospital Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary. In her spare time, Wava enjoyed playing bridge and canasta.
On October 5, 2006, Wava passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Eldred and Weldon Johnson.
She is survived by two nephews and their wives: Nord and Linda Johnson of DeLand, FL and Neal and Donna Johnson of Jefferson City, MO; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove, Iowa.
There will be a Moose Lodge service following the graveside services.
