Wayne Fred Peters, the son of Otto and Alberta (Baumeister) Peters, was born September 6, 1928 in Everly, Iowa. He graduated valedictorian of his class from Everly High School in 1946. He married his true love, Shirley Pfitzenmaier on July 30, 1950, and they farmed for many years northeast of Everly. To this union were born two children, a son, Allen and a daughter, Carol. Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years during the height of the Korean War after which he was honorably discharged. He was a lifelong baptized and confirmed member of Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, where he served on the church board council. In 1996, Wayne and Shirley moved to Spencer.
Wayne passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Theril Peters.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Peters of Spencer; his son, Allen Peters of Cincinnati, OH; his daughter, Carol Schwarck and her husband, John of Columbus, OH and three grandchildren: Steven Schwarck, Brittany Schwarck and Kristin (Schwarck) Cly and her husband, Andy of Columbus, OH; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
Military services will be conducted by Everett Boyles, Jr. Post #414 - American Legion of Everly, Iowa following the graveside services.
