Wayne G. Brown

     Wayne Gibbons Brown, the son of Lee and Winifred (Gibbons) Brown was born February 19, 1925 in Peterson, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Peterson area where he attended school, graduating from Peterson High School.

     Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during WWII until his Honorable Discharge in 1946 He attained his Master’s Degree in teaching. Wayne married Jane Dean on November 28, 1958 at the First Congregational Church in Peterson, IA. He taught school in Peterson, Rolfe, IA, and Lake Park, IA, before opening a car dealership in Sibley, IA.

     Wayne enjoyed golfing, fishing, and playing in dance bands. He was a member of the American Legion, Masons, and First Congregational Church in Peterson, IA.

     Wayne passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jane; one son, Dean; and one brother, Jim Brown.

     Left to cherish his memory are his 4 children, Terry (Bev) Brown of Denver, CO, Dawn (John) Beard of Land O’ Lakes, FL, David Brown of Primghar, IA, and James Brown of Waterloo, IA; grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher (Terri) Michaela Jane, Gabrielle (Jon) Tricia (Ryan) and Christa Jane; great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Shaelyn, Sebastian, Shawna, Scot, Michael, Christian, Kaitlyn, and Tyler; other relatives; and many friends.
