Wayne Lynn Weier, Sr., the son of Lloy and Jenny (Kruse) Weier, was born on September 15, 1949, in Cherokee, IA. When he was a young child, his family moved to the Linn Grove - Sioux Rapids area where he attended school.
On May 22, 1967, Wayne married Diana Collins in Sioux Rapids, IA. Following their marriage, the couple lived in several communities before settling in Spencer. To this union three children were born: Wayne Jr., Cory Allan and Tara Colleen. Unfortunately their marriage ended.
Wayne entered the military on March 23, 1970, serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army he received the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Expert and Good Conduct Medal. Wayne was honorably discharged on December 20, 1971. Following his military service, he returned to Spencer and later worked at Heartland Press.
In 1990, Wayne had an unfortunate accident which forced him to leave his job. Wayne then became a self-employed jack-of-all-trades, as he was very handy and could fix anything and was always there to help people. Wayne liked to listen to music and watch football. He enjoyed visiting with people and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Wayne was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagle's Club in Spencer.
Wayne passed away at his home on November 20, 2008, at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Cory Allan; 2 brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish his memory are his very special friend, Dori Beck of Spencer, IA; his son, Wayne Weier, Jr. of Ankeny, IA; his daughter, Tara Campbell and her husband, Terry of Greeley, CO; Jeree and Alice Beck of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren: Kesha, David, Abby, Jordan, Koreena, Kaden and Kolten; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
