Wendell Hugh Jones

Wendell Hugh Jones, the son of Hugh Richard and Susie Marie Brooks Jones, was born September 9, 1925, in Douglas Township on the family farm. Wendell received his early education and graduated from Rossie High School. Following his schooling, he entered the United States Army in 1950, serving during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany for 14 months; Wendell was Honorably Discharged in 1952. On June 7, 1959, Wendell married Marilyn Jane Nielsen in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they spent their lifetime on the family farm. Wendell was a member of the Royal Methodist Church and the American Legion in Spencer. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and reading. Most of all, Wendell loved spending time with his family. Wendell passed away on May 8, 2015, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 89. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: DeWayne, Darwin and Bernard; and one brother-in-law, Norman Nielsen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn of Linn Grove; son, Craig Jones of Linn Grove; daughter, Carol Jones of Spencer; two grandsons: Ben and Noah; sister, Arla Gould and husband, Bob of Spencer, IA; brother-in-law, Raymond Nielsen and wife, Marilyn of Algona, IA; sister-in-law, Maxine Nielsen of Noblesville, IN; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
