Wilbert Dale Bielfeldt, the son of John and Anna (Anderson) Bielfeldt, was born December 27, 1924, in Everly, Iowa. He received his early education and graduated from the Lake Center Consolidated School in Terril in 1942. Following his schooling, Wilbert entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War in Germany.
Wilbert married Rhoda Wegener in Colfax, Washington, on September 7, 1950. Wilbert served in the military service during the early years of their marriage, but in 1953, they returned to Clay County where he resumed farming. They lived on the home farm north of Lake Center until 1978, after which time they moved to Milford for two years before finally making their home on Lost Island. Rhoda passed away on July 21, 1986.
Wilbert married Phyllis (Fraser) Evans on July 4, 1987, in Terril, IA. He was a longtime member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Board. Wilbert was a member of the American Legion in Terril, the V.F.W. in Estherville and served on the Board at the Terril Farmers Coop. He enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Wilbert passed away on December 7, 2023, at the Ruthven Care Center at the age of 98. He preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rhoda; his second wife, Phyllis; one brother, John; four sisters: Ann Pothast, Elsie Smith, Lillian Beck and Edna Quist; and step-son, Dennis Evans.
He is survived by his son, Dennis (Susanne) of Sioux Falls, SD; 6 grandchildren: Leah Brink, Anna (Joe) Maruska, Daniel (Megan) Bielfeldt, John Bielfeldt, Paul Bielfeldt, Luke Bielfeldt; 8 great-grandchildren: Maddie and David Brink; Clara, Elijah, Stella Maruska; Charlotte, Vivienne, Josephine Bielfeldt; 2 step-grandchildren: Angelina (Jeremy) Fitzgerald and Dominic (Chloe) Schache; step-daughter, Cynthia (Greg) Foote of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
