Wilbur J. Hebbel, the son of Harry and Lillian Hennings Hebbel, was born July 22, 1925 on a farm near Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent there were he received his early education. Following his schooling, Willie entered the U.S. Army and served during W.W.II. After his honorable discharge, Willie returned to Iowa.
Willie married Joyce Gertsmeier on May 27, 1966 in Denver, Colorado while staying at his brother's home. For 48 years, Willie owned and operated Midwest Piano and Organ Co. in Spencer and for 10 years in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, the American Legion, 32nd Degree Mason and an active member of the Spencer Golf and Country Club. In his spare time, Willie enjoyed golfing, playing cards, bowling and socializing with his many friends.
On January 13, 2008, Willie passed away at his home at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother and his wife, Donald and Florine Hebbel; grandson, Donnie Geisinger; nephew, Doug Hebbel.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Spencer; son, Norm Hebbel of Spencer; step-son, Larry Geisinger and his wife, Nancy of Spencer; his step-daughter, Cheri Leister and her husband, Ernie of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Michelle and Cory Johnson of Sibley, IA, Stephanie Bronstad of Hartley, IA, Matthew Schuver of Sioux Rapids, IA and Sandra Tucker and her husband, Billy of San Angelo, TX; many great grandchildren; his God Daughter, Megan (Kramer) Sampson of Urbandale, IA; his close friend, Norman Eastman of Spencer and his dear Sasha Ann; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the First Congregational Church in Spencer.
