William H. Peterson, the son of Hans and Vara Skewis Peterson, was born October 7, 1920, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Greenville, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1938. In 1941, Bill went to San Diego, California, to work in a defense plant.
Bill married Kathryn Foell on March 19, 1943, in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union two sons, William and Roger, were born. From May 1944 to April 1946, Bill served in the United States Air Force as a B24 flight engineer and a B29 mechanic. Shortly after returning from service, he started Peterson Auto Electric in Spencer, which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1978.
Bill was a member of the Methodist Church, Evening Shade Lodge #312 (where he was Master in 1959), Abu Bekr Shrine, York Rites, Shrine Club, ATV Easter Star #116 (where he was Worthy Patron in 1961), American Legion, Antique Car Club and the Spencer Community Theater.
Bill was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by sons Dr. Bill Peterson (Patti) of Long Prairie, Minnesota, and Roger Peterson of Raleigh, North Carolina (Susan Coles); grandchildren Stefanie Peterson Tschida (Troy) and Bo Peterson (Katie St. Germain); great-grandchildren Logan Tschida and Price Peterson; sisters Jean Schuler, Inez Hess, Dorothy Prather.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Kathryn, his brother Jay, and his parents Hans and Vara.

VISITATION
Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 - 8:00P.M., Tuesday, December 2, at the funeral home in Spencer.
There will be a Masonic Service conducted by the Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F.& A.M. at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, followed by a Military Service conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1.
