William Dean Schindler

     William (Bill) Schindler, the son of Gertrude and Everett Schindler, was born November 15, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, IA.  His childhood years were spent in Cedar Rapids area, where he received his education and graduated from George Washington High School in Cedar Rapids.     At the age of 17, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict and served for almost 4 years.

     Bill married Ardis and they have three daughters and a stepson.  He worked at Nissen Corp., PMX as a safety coordinator and also dabbled in home construction.  Bill enjoyed his free time bike riding, fishing, camping and bowling.  Since moving to Longhouse Residence in Spencer, he had enjoyed puzzles, watching TV, and was an avid bingo and Yahtzee player. Bill was a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years.

     Bill passed away at Longhouse Residence in Spencer on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the age of 70.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ardis.

     He is survived by his three daughters: Trudy Ganzevoort of Webb, IA, Dawn Cart of Springville, IA and Kristine Schindler of Cedar Rapids, IA; one stepson, Chad Lloyd of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 grandchildren; two great grandsons; four great granddaughters; other relatives and friends.
