William Nelson Peterson, 83 of Kenmare passed away Friday evening August 3, 2012 in Kenmare.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare with the Rev. John Syvertson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home in Kenmare. Burial will occur at a later date in Spencer Iowa.
Bill was born on February 14, 1929 to William P. and Agnes A. (Nelson) Peterson on his grandfather's farm in rural Northwood North Dakota. He grew up on a farm first living in rural Northwood until 1946 when the family relocated to Kenmare and continued farming in the Kenmare area until his retirement in 1992.
Bill married Charlotte Walstrom on January 26, 1963 in Royal, IA.
Anyone who knew Bill, knew of his love of airplanes and flying. Many adventures were had by him and any locals brave enough to go on his flying exploits. Over the years Bill was an active bowler, member of the Nazareth Church Council along with various other organizations in the area. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially telling his granddaughters stories and getting them to laugh. He also enjoyed boating and was very proud of his Norwegian Heritage. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte (Walstrom) Peterson, Kenmare, and their two sons, Mark (Deborah) Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD and David of Spencer, Iowa. His three granddaughters Alexandra, Samantha and Mackenzie of which he was very proud. His sister Karen (Carl) Scott of Apache Junction, Arizona; sisters-in-law Beverly Walstrom of Sioux City, Iowa, Majorie Frad of Spencer, Iowa and Darlene (Gover) Petitt of Sheldon, Iowa along several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.
