Wynona Helen Johannsen

Wynona Helen Johannsen, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Backhaus) Block, was born July 27, 1916, in Davis, SD. Her childhood years were spent in Lenox, SD, where she received her education, graduating from Lenox High School. Wynona married LuVerne Jennings on April 11, 1937, and to this union three children were born: Judy, Jerry and Gary. Following their marriage, she worked at a nursing home for 6 � years. LuVerne passed away on May 4, 1948. She married Raymond Johannsen on February 27, 1954, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland, IA. Together they lived the remainder of their lives in Sutherland, where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, serving with the Ladies Guild. Wynona was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Wynona passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LuVerne; husband, Raymond on May 15, 2013; her son, Gary Jennings; and one brother. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Judy Snyder and husband, Gene of Roseville, CA; one son, Jerry Jennings and wife, Jan of Monkey, Island, OK; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
