Zipora Lily Elizabeth Nagel

Zipora Lily Elizabeth Nagel, the daughter of Paul and Bertha Geiser Braunschweig, was born June 23, 1924 in Sutherland, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sutherland, where she received her education. She was united in marriage to Herman Nagel at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland on January 6, 1947. They made their home on a farm near Hartley, Iowa until moving to town in November of 1984. Zipora truly enjoyed life on the farm and raising her three sons there. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Zipora was one of the original residents of the Community Memorial Assisted Living Facility in Hartley and was very close to the staff. She also enjoyed playing pinochle and putting together puzzles. She will always be remembered for her fantastic Kettle corn that she made. Zipora passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman on March 5, 1994 and 2 sisters: Pauline Meyer and Frieda Buckendahl and one brother, Gladwin (Smiley) Braunschweig. Left to cherish her memory are three sons: Dennis of Spencer, Duane and his wife, Priscilla of Spencer and Douglas and his wife, Beverly of Hartley, IA; 10 grandchildren: Robert Rausch, Gregory Rausch, Tracey Nagel, Leslie Nagel, Jennifer Walker, Justin Nagel, Robert Nagel, Ryan Nagel, Jeremy Nagel and Heath Nagel; four great grandchildren: Matthew Nagel, Lauren and Gavin Walker and Anastasia Rausch; a brother, Paul Braunschweig, Jr. of Spirit Lake, IA; other relatives and many friends.
