Richard Dean Pierson, the son of Andy H. and Amanda (Woelenberg) Pierson, was born April 6, 1934, in Clay County, Iowa.  His childhood years were spent in the Dickens and Gillett Grove area where he received his education and graduated from Gillett Grove High School.
Dick married Donna Hansen, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Rexford Hansen of Ruthven on April 10, 1955, in Ruthven, IA.  Following their marriage, they lived on a farm south of Dickens, IA.  In 1962, they moved to Spencer when Dick was a field representative  for American Hereford and Polled Hereford Association for 10 years.  He then started working as the Farm Director for KICD.  In 1984, Dick and Donna purchased the Rental Center and Party Room, which they operated with their sons, Mark and Brad for many years, until their retirement in 2000.  They spent many winters at their home in Sun City West, AZ, and summers on the acreage near Spencer, raising and showing Registered Quarter Horses. Dick enjoyed his family, the horses and having an exhibition and working at the Clay County Fair for many years. Dick was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Dick passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 86.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna in 2008; parents, Andy and Amanda Pierson; mother and father-in-law, Rexford and Erma Hansen; and one sister-in-law, Karole Graen.
He is survived by his two sons: Mark and his special friend, Kathy Decker of Greenville, IA, and Brad and wife, Tracey Pierson of Spencer, IA;  grandchildren: Brooke Pierson, Jennifer & Nick Yetmar of Ames, IA, Mark & Alexis Malm of Ft. Dodge, IA; seven great-grandchildren: Tavian, Tamiya, Joshua, Messiah, Adalynn, Huxley and Milan; numerous friends and relatives including brother-in-law, Jack Graen of Arizona.
