Lenis L. (Lucky) Luchtel, the son of Arthur C. and Helen (Campbell) Luchtel, was born on July 3, 1934.  His childhood years were spent in the Wall Lake area where he attended school and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1952.

Lenis was united in marriage to Peggy (Smoot) on July 10, 1955, in Royal, Iowa.

Lucky, a Korean War Veteran, served in the United Sates Navy from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956.  He was the manager of Graettinger Municipal Gas, and later worked for Glenn Smoot Plumbing and Heating for many years before securing a maintenance position with Spencer Foods, Inc., from which he retired.

Lucky enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and restoring vintage firearms.  Family gatherings, reunions and friends were very special.  He was a very proud grandpa and great grandpa.  One of his biggest achievements was when his first-born grandchild was born, he quit smoking.  He stated, “no grandchild will see me smoke a cigarette,” and he kept that promise.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy of 66 years; sons: Lenis, Jr. (Mary) Luchtel of Arizona, and Glenn (Pam) Luchtel of Colorado; daughter, LeeAnn (Robert) Parness of Arizona; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other friends and family members to cherish his memory.

Memorial Graveside Services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 5, 2021, at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 and the V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159
