Glenn was born June 12, 1922, near Hartley, Iowa, the only child of Louis Stoterau and Alma Wills Stoterau.  He graduated from Hartley High School, then served from 1942-1945 as company clerk in the U.S. Army in the European conflict of WW II.  Following the war, on August 16, 1945, he married Ruby Jean Petersen of Hartley, Iowa, and raised three children.

He learned carpentry as a carpenter’s apprentice to his uncle, Rudy Wills, and became a skilled craftsman in custom cabinet making and building renovations.  His children learned to waterski behind a boat that he built in his workshop, and to play table tennis on a table he built for them.  Later, the family enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips.

Glenn lived in the Hartley-Spencer area for 76 of his 98 years (in Texas from 1952-1974).  In Texas, he and his wife and family found a personal, saving relationship with God through Christ.  In Hartley, he attended the Baptist Church, and in Spencer, the Methodist church.

Glenn loved all music, especially big band music and dancing, as well as fishing and boating, and hearing or telling a good joke.  He was active all his life, going to dances, walking and biking well into his 90’s.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, in 1979, and his great-grandson, Mason Mages, in 2020.

He is survived by his three children:  Cindy Walter (and husband, Dean) of Wichita, KS, Marci Stoterau of Dallas, TX, and Jay Stoterau of Georgetown, TX; 2 grandchildren: Cheryl Rogers of Basehor, KS and Peggy Mages of Windsor, CO; 5 great grandchildren: Emma and Sammy Rogers, Mcallen, Miles and Madison Mages; many cousins, nieces and nephews, including Dennis Petersen of Hartley, IA.   Glenn was grateful for the friends, family and neighbors who kept him company and helped him in his later years, including his close friend and companion, Norma Johnson, of Spencer.

He left this life for his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, while a resident of Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons, Int’l or to Community Memorial Health Center of Hartley.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley.

“Glen was such a conversationalist, from the time our relationship began at Sunset Apts to COVID at Riverview. He was such a pleasant man, always at ease. It was not easy for him as his eyes got less helpful but he just kept on going. While the people from Grace United Methodist went to be a blessing, we always felt blest by spending some time with him. Truly a gentle-man.”

“Glen was good friend and supporter of mine throughout my years in Hartley. I did stop and see him in Spencer but not enough. I always enjoyed talking about dancing or whatever was in the news. He lived a long healthy life and his way. RIP my friend.”
