Mitchell Allan Seivert, the son of Bernard and Mabel (Feenstra) Seivert, was born at his parents’ farm home on February 22, 1945 in Melvin, Iowa.  His childhood years were spent in Sanborn, where he received his education, graduating from Sanborn High School in 1964.  After his education, he entered the U.S. Army for 6 months until he was medically discharged after breaking an ankle.  He returned to Sanborn and worked at Vander Woude Oil Company for 5 years.

Mitchell married Madeleine Zeimen on June 20,1970 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Primghar, IA.  After their marriage, they remained in Sanborn, where he worked as a truck driver for Sanborn Coop Grain, which eventually was renamed Farmer’s Coop Society, where he worked for 37 years until his retirement.  After retiring for 8 days, he went back to work as a truck driver in Ocheyedan for several more years.  In 2013, they moved to Spencer.  He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, going to auctions, buying, fixing and repairing things and selling them.  He could fix anything and also enjoyed raising vegetables in his garden, watching NASCAR and having coffee with his friends.

He passed away at his home in Spencer on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the age of 76.  Mitch was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Marlys (Gramlow) Britton and brothers, Dennis and Fred (Fritz) Seivert.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Madeleine of Spencer; one daughter, Aimee (Ryan) Staudt of Van Meter, IA; one son, Bret (Erin) Seivert of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Austin, Averie & Grant Staudt and Nathan Mallard and Sonja Seivert; one brother, Earl (Carol) Seivert of Sanborn, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
