“Dear Darwin and Family,
My heart is saddened by the loss of Joann’s life. There is no loss in the love and hugs she leaves you though. I loved the service for her, especially the heartfelt solo by her loved ones. I worked in the mall office when Joann worked at Smith Jewelers when I first met her, then years worshipping together at Bethany and more years of mothering and grandmothering as Tyler and our son Shane were classmates and friends. She was easy-going, kind, hard working. I admired how she cared for her family with no applause expected. She just did what needed to be done. You gave her a simply beautiful send-off and yes, I agree, there is one more “good egg” angel around the throne tonight. Your have our sincere sympathy and prayers for comfort.”

“I truly felt like I knew Joann through the many stories I heard. My mom, Carol Albers, played canasta/cards with Joann and Darwin at the Moose. She always looked forward to their card parties, and often was the recipient of Joann's handiwork as either a high or low prize, or something Joann had made and given to her. What a precious time of life for Mom, made even richer through the kindness and compassion of Joann and Darwin. May God comfort you now, and all the days to come. With deep sympathy . . . ”
