Also, survived by his mother-in-law Lorna Landas, and her children Sue (Jack) Frey, Patty Youll, Peggy (Tim) Juergens, Julie Kopsa, and Harry (Linda) Landas.  And many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his best friend Doug Marske who was his hunting and fishing partner for more than 40 years.  He also treasured his annual fishing trips up north with his lifelong friends Lonnie Brekke and Dennis Jellings.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gus and Hazel Dewitz, his father-in-law Howard Landas of Fayette, IA and one nephew and two nieces.

Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, building in his workshop and spending time with his grandchildren.  Steve was a very likeable person, who saw the best in everyone and was always willing to lend a hand.  He was a good, kind person, who was loved by everyone he met. Steve always enjoyed his lunchtime conversations with the daycare children as their interactions were epic with “Dewey or Teve”.
