Richard “Dick” Anthony Hallett, Jr., the son of Richard and Margie (Nothem) Hallett, Sr., was born October 3, 1954, in Remsen, IA.  His family moved to Spencer in his youth and his childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School at the age of 17.  He later attended trade school in Ida Grove, IA.

On June 9, 1973, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Sheri Peterson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. The couple lived in Spencer where Dick started a construction business in which he worked his whole life.  He had a construction business with his brother, Craig as Hallett Brothers Construction.   He worked with his father building houses and large affordable housing projects including Spencer Manor.  In the 1980’s he sold real estate for a couple of years with Sheri. Going back into the business Dick poured concrete, built and renovated houses working with his sons until they eventually took over the business. He loved gadgets, science and was a history buff.  Dick also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He passed away at Unity Point Hospital in Sioux City, IA on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the age of 67.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheri; his mother-in-law, Mary Peterson, father-in-law, Elwyn Peterson, stepfather Larry Struve and two brothers: Mike Hallett and Craig Hallett.

Dick is survived by two sons: Tony Hallett of Spencer and Corey (Amanda) Hallett of Spencer; his grandchildren: Jacob & Alexa Hallett and Trenton and Taytym Hallett; one brother, Mark (Sue) Hallett of Spencer, IA; three sisters: Patricia (Russ) Valentine of Naples, FL, Kris (Jerry) Illg of Des Moines, IA and Lisa (Brad) Baxter of Arizona; a cousin and best friend, Curt Engel of Salina, KS; other relatives and many friends.
