Warner Funeral Home is owned and operated by longtime Spencer area residents, Joel Roos, Brad Hawn and Jeff Swank. We are very pleased to have a staff of caring professionals who are dedicated to provide real comfort to the families we serve.
Joel Roos, Funeral Director
Joel has been a licensed funeral director since 1984 and a partner in Warner Funeral Home since 1992. He received his B.A. degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake in 1982 and a degree in Mortuary Science from Dallas School of Funeral Service in 1983.
Joel is a member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Spencer Jaycees, Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross and a past board member of the Spencer Tailtwister High School Booster Club.
Joel and his wife, LuAnn have three children: Nate, Maggie & her husband, Kaleb Smith and Ben.
Brad Hawn, Funeral Director
Brad has been a licensed funeral director since 1985 and a partner in Warner Funeral Home since 1994. He attended the University of Northern Iowa and received his B.A. degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa and a degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, IL in 1984.
Brad served on the Iowa Board of Mortuary Science Examiners for 3 terms. He is a member of Foundation Church in Spencer. Brad is a past board member of the Spencer Family YMCA where he also served on the Century Club, as well as the Endowment Committee. He served as a board member on the Clay County American Heart Association for several years as the Communications Chairman. He was also a member of the Spencer Rotary Club, past member of the Spencer Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and a past member of the Spencer Jaycees.
Brad and his wife, Jennifer, enjoy spending time with their children: Abby and her husband, Nate and daughters Amelia, Nora & Mattea; son Bailey, daughter Meredith and son Drew.
Jeff Swank, Funeral Director
Jeff has been a licensed funeral director since 1996 and has been working at Warner Funeral Home since 2000 and became a partner at Warner Funeral Home in 2006. He received his A.A. degree from Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny in 1994 and a degree in Mortuary Science from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL in 1995.
Jeff is a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Kiwanis. Jeff and his wife, Carla, have two children, Michael and Marisa.
Casey Vaughan, Funeral Director
Casey received his funeral directors license on 2008, He has attended the University of Sioux Falls, Iowa Lakes Community College and is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, IL. where he received his degree in Mortuary Science.
Casey is a member of the Spencer Jaycees and Sacred Heart Church in Spencer and a member of the YMCA.
Casey and his wife, Emily have one dauther, Finley.
Diane Sparks, Administrative Assistant and Aftercare Consultant
Diane is the Administrative Assistant and Aftercare Consultant for Warner Funeral Home. She also facilitates "Circle of Care", our grief support group. Diane began working for the funeral home in 1999.
Diane is a lifetime resident of the Spencer area and is a member of Hope Reformed Church. She and her husband, Dwight, enjoy spending time with their three sons: Curt and wife, Sara and daughters, Lillian and Elleanor; Tyler and his wife, Addie and sons, Theodore, Franklin and Arthur; and Tony and his wife, Leah.
Cathy Beaver, Family Service Counselor
Cathy, a lifelong resident of the Wallingford area, is a Preplanning Consultant for Warner Funeral Home, working to assist families with their advanced funeral planning needs.
Cathy is a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where she serves as lector, usher, Eucharistic minister and Confirmation teacher. She has also been the treasurer for the Emmet County Relay for Life for many years.
Cathy and her husband, Ron have two children, Jared and Ann and her husband, Shawn. They have also been blessed with two grandsons, Blake and Brady.
